Secondary Language Arts

Michele Rutgers, formerly a native of Eau Claire, but transplanted to Kalamazoo for over 20 years, returns to the area as Grace Christian’s new secondary English teacher. Having worked as an accountant in the legal system for many years, Ms. Rutgers felt God’s call and direction to return to her roots and teach in the fields of her education, English and Latin.

Job Description/Class Overview:

As the secondary English teacher, Ms. Rutgers teaches Literature, Grammar, Speech and Yearbook to students in grades 6-12.  She hopes to bring Classics/Latin instruction back to the school in the future. “Studying Latin gave me a deeper love for English,” says Rutgers, “I want to cultivate and grow that interest with the students here at Grace Christian.”

Ms. Rutgers is also the sponsor for the Class of 2026.
